Setting Up and Strengthening Local Partnerships to Deliver Aid
Following the December 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, a group of aid agencies interested in improving emergency response mechanisms, documented their experiences in responding to the disaster, which resulted in a coalition report dubbed the Synthesis Report: Expanded Summary www.alnap.org/resource/5536 . It calls for a fundamental shift in the humanitarian process from mere aid supply, to supporting and facilitating communities’ own relief and recovery priorities.
